Using online essay companies is still cheating, says ofQual

Everyone gets a mental block when writing an essay. Your paragraphs don't flow; your sentences sound incomprehensible, and you've slotted in quotes that are tenuously linked to the argument you're trying to make.

But do not fret: you're going to get through this. Just take a break, get yourself together and work out a plan. And whatever you do, do NOT cheat, because that's not cool.

Not only is it super lame to cheat your way through an essay (it will haunt you like The Tell-Tale Heart), but The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation. ofQual, have issued a warning, saying that they will be clamping down on modern forms of plagiarism.

The body has especially targeted those that seek online companies that write websites for students, and also believe that that standard of the essays that the websites offer are below par and not representative of the grades they offer.

As a result, universities across the UK are committed to being 'extra vigilant' from now on.

Glenys Stacey, Chief Regulator of ofqual has said: “My message to students is quite clear. These essays are poor quality. Anyone who buys them isn’t getting value for money. And more importantly, while there can be valid reasons for students buying these essays, such as essay practice or research, any attempt to pass this work off as the student’s own is cheating.

“We want a level playing field for students, with each student assessed fairly, and so decided to look into this issue more closely. One of the more shocking findings was that the essays supplied by these companies are not even the grade they claim to be. For example essays that claimed to be grade A quality were purchased and when they were analysed by our experts, the majority were only a C or even a grade D.

So guys, you have just started your first year, or second or third, but don't let the pressure get to you. If you prepare well, talk through your problems with teachers or your friends, you will realise you are not alone.
