The Student Guide Cocktail Bar: Valentine’s strawberry daiquiri

With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, our cocktail of the month will leave you completely enamoured (with it at least!)

Whatever you make of Valentine’s Day, one thing’s for sure — it gives us all an excuse to sample some pretty delicious food and drinks.

In celebration, our cocktail of the month this month is the beautiful strawberry daiquiri; a deliciously sweet, healthy (and red!) tipple for your tummy.

To make one dose of the infectious Valentine’s strawberry daiquiri, you will need:

4 fresh strawberries
2 tsp white sugar
35ml white rum
25ml lime juice

Method

  • Place the strawberries, sugar, rum and lime juice in a cocktail shaker or container with a lid and mash together.
  • Place on the lid and shake well.
  • Strain the mixture into a cocktail glass and enjoy. Garnish with half a strawberry if desired.
  • For a refreshing twist, place the mixture in the food processor with a handful of crushed ice to make a frozen strawberry daiquiri.

This recipe is cheap and delicious and you can make it over and over again as the ingredients will stretch. Enjoy with a loved one before heading out for a meal, or with friends whilst watching a film and prepare to be struck by the arrow of temptation.

Happy Valentine’s Day — wherever you are and whoever you’re with, we hope you’re feeling loved up!
