The Coffee House Sessions: The Jar Family

Coffee House Sessions is a dynamic initiative that exposes the best in upcoming music talent to the student market via acoustic daytime performances in university coffee shops. Launched by Coalition Talent in 2013, this innovative platform injects life back into the live music scene across universities.

Next in the series they welcome Hartlepool collective The Jar Family, who are now firmly established as one of the biggest live acts in the North East.

Having played over 300 live shows across the country, culminating in a recent performance in front of a 80,000 strong crowd in Stockton-on-Tees, their relentless touring schedule has seen them earn support slots with the likes of Jake Bugg, The Charlatans, Alabama 3, Babyshambles and The Sunshine Underground.

Reminiscent of early Pogues and with their roots in the Hartlepool music scene, they have forged a distinctive style of North-East blues & roots, uniquely coined as ‘industrial folk’ and established a major fan base of fanatical supporters throughout the UK.

Following a string of gigs as part of Independent Venue Week, The Jar Family will bring their raucous and unmissable live show to university venues throughout the UK, and provide their ever growing army of admirers the first chance to hear new material off the upcoming album. Recorded at the legendary Monnow Valley Studios with award winning producer Rupert Christie (Coldplay, Kate Bush, Lou Reed, Echo & The Bunnymen), the new album is due for release in 2015 and follows first single In The Clouds out on the 15th March.
