The 9 C.o.E’s Commandments of Twitter

The 9 C.o.E’s Commandments of Twitter

The Church of England released its 9 Commandments of Twitter this week, so even the Godliest of twitter users can voice their thoughts without offending The Lord.

The Commandments give guidance on sharing love and the Christian message, along with a few thrown in for safety’s sake.

Each commandment comes with scenarios to put yourself in, the most common of which being Would I want God to read this? And what would my mother think?

The church issued a statement as well, saying “ Social media is immediate, interactive, conversational and open-ended. This sets it apart from other forms of communication and demands a new way of thinking. As well as the many opportunities, users should also be aware of (though not put off by) the associated risks.

“Essentially, you should participate online in the same way as you would in any other public forums. Your actions should be consistent with your work and Christian values and you take responsibility for the things you do, say or write.”

Wise words there – something for everyone to consider.

Regardless of your religious background.
