NekNominate: A step too far?

NekNominate: A step too far?

Neck your drink. Nominate another. Don't break the chain, don't be a d**k. The social drinking game for social media! #NekNominate. Drink Responsibly."

These are the rules to the Australian born craze of NekNomination, where people video themselves downing a pint and nominating a friend to do the same within 24 hours. If it was that simple it wouldn’t be this popular.

Since the craze came about people everywhere have been looking for better and more interesting ways to step up, like drinking your pint from a toilet or on a horse… in Tesco. The next wave saw people drinking harder spirits in larger qualities in order to prove themselves.

Then we move onto the ridicules. Drinking eggs, hot-sauce, even wee has become the standard.

But for all the fun people have been having, it’s not just the over-drinking that has been getting people into serious trouble.

The RSPCA is now investigating over a dozen claims of animal abuse after a viral video emerged showing a man downing live goldfish.

According to wildlife scientist Nicola White “We are extremely concerned about this shocking new trend. We have had quite a few similar cases reported to us in a very short space of time - but this could be just the tip of the iceberg as there's probably many more we have not been told about. Eating a live animal and posting of a film of it on the internet is not some light-hearted joke - it is unacceptable. It sends out a clear message that animal cruelty is OK as long as it is in the guise of entertainment.

For all the bad press these things have been getting recently, we have seen one guy turn neknominations on their heads. Brent Lindeque used his nomination  for something important. Check it out here:
