Review: Fabric Friday 13th

Predictably the unluckiness of the date didn’t cross into Fabric on Friday 13th, where delicious ambient bass and 2-steppy shenanigans were the flavours of the night.
Hessle Audio spearheaded the show, headlining in Room one to an excellent response, and with fantastic sets from everyone concerned it was a night for great music. Talking to the crowd at the end of the night Icicle and Pangaea seemed to really steal the show, although the fabriclive 61 album launch from Pinch also enjoyed a great amount of popularity.
It could be said that the night symbolises the growing popularity of the Bass music scene; the genre is certainly getting more playtime as it emerges out of the more interesting corners of the dubstep monster, and the more chilled vibe of the music certainly translated onto the crowd, creating a relaxing atmosphere where the usual club based aggro was pleasantly missing.
All in all then an excellent night, showcasing some of the best in a new breed of music, although, as one fellow raver told me “its fabric, you were bound to have had a good time”.
