Johnny English Reborn

The most improbable spy is back

The most improbable intelligence officer in Her Majesty's Secret Service is back.

This time, Johnny English must stop a group of international assassins before they eliminate a world leader and cause global chaos.

Having vanished off the grid since 2003, English has been practising his skills in a remote region of Asia.

But an attempt on the Chinese premier's life forces his MI-7 superiors to hunt down English, played by Rowan Atkinson.

The lure proves too much and the unorthodox Johnny English is back in action.

Armed and causing chaos with the latest in hi-tech gadgets, English has to unravel a web of conspiracy that runs throughout the KGB, CIA and even MI-7.

With the clock ticking, the spy agent is in a race against time and, as always, disaster may be an option, but failure never is for English.

Atkinson believes this sequel, written by himself and Hamish McColl and directed by Oliver Parker, is better than the first instalment.

"If you feel you can do something different or something better and we haven't done something very different but I think we've done something slightly better,” he told the Herald Sun.

"I think the plot is more believable, the characters are more enjoyable and the story works better so that sounds as good a reason as any", he said.

Last month Atkinson injured himself in a car crash which saw his supercar burst into flames.

Released: 7 October 2011
