HMV forced to apologise following X Factor ‘fix’

Amelia Lily appears on HMV site as 'Winner'

HMV has apologised following a ‘regrettable technical issue’ on its website led to rumours of an X Factor fix ahead of this weekend's final.

Millions of Twitter users soon started claiming the competition was fixed as there were no listings for singles from fellow finalists Little Mix and Marcus Collins.

“It’s just come to light that there was a technical issue uploading details of two of the artists to our site, which meant that only Amelia Lily’s details appeared,” a spokesperson for HMV said.

"Once up, fans will be able to pre-order the single by their preferred finalist but only orders for the eventual winner’s single will be processed and charged for.

"This has been the result of an unforeseen but regrettable technical issue, for which we apologise and ask that nothing further be construed."

All three finalists’ details will go up later this morning.

“This is absolutely nothing to do with The X Factor, HMV have admitted this was due to a technical error on their site,” said Caren Davis, head of publicity for The X Factor.
