Miss your weekly X Factor fix? Fear not, American Idol is back for its eleventh series

Make a note in your diary, Thursday 19th January marks the triumphant return of American Idol, the USA’s most popular reality TV talent show.

Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler are back for their second year together, proving that they don’t need Simon Cowell to win top ratings. Ryan Seacrest will once again present the series, as the search for the next American Idol sweeps the country again.

The series kicks off with the audition stages. Tryouts have been held across America from coast to coast, but which performers will manage to impress the panel and make it through to the next round?
