50/50 in cinemas Friday

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen team up for feel-good comedy 50/50

Already tipped as one of the must-see movies of 2011, 50/50 is out in cinemas on the 25th November.

50/50 is an original story about friendship, love, survival and finding humour in unlikely places, all inspired by personal experiences.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen star as best friends whose lives are changed by a sudden cancer diagnosis. This emotional and often funny story tells of a young man’s transformative and sometimes funny journey to health, all with the support of his best friend.

Directed by Jonathan Levine, 50/50 is inspired by the real life experiences of producer Will Reiser, who was diagnosed with cancer six years ago. The film attempts to confront the difficult truth about the disease. Recalling the moment he first learned of the diagnosis, Reiser’s colleague and friend Seth Rogan tells of how the film came about:

"As shocking, sad, confusing and generally screwed up as it was, we couldn't ignore that, because we were so ill-equipped to deal with the situation, funny things kept happening. Will got better, and when he did, we thought the best way to pull something good out of the situation was to get him to write a screenplay. Ideally we wanted to make a film that would be as funny, sad, and hopefully as honest as the experience we went through. As soon as the script was completed, it quickly became a passion project for all of us. It helped us come to terms with Will's struggle as well as our own experiences."

Co-starring Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard and Anjelica Huston, this warm and uplifting comedy drama which will open in UK cinemas on Friday. Watch the trailer below.
