Raveology 2011: Review

Birmingham's Raveology welcomes in the New Year with a bang
To quote a friend “you know it was a good night when you leave stinking of sweat which isn’t even yours”, a sentiment which perfectly sums up the rumpus which was raveology’s New Year’s party. The celebration of everything noisy saw the recently refurbished Birmingham Ballroom play host to the legendary Valve Sound System, and of course every big name from the world of Drum and Bass.
The sets were top-of-the-line raving fare, with Dj Hype ringing in the New Year in true noisy fashion, and the constantly packed dance floor was testament to the skill of the music men. The venue was also excellent, and the opening up of different spaces such as the dubstep room ensured a variety of atmospheres to suit every mood. At £8.50 for a double vodbull, drinks were perhaps on the steep side, but judging the mood of the crowd this didn’t seem to faze many people.
Of course if listening to incredibly loud electronic music and dancing like a jellyfish on crack isn’t your cup of tea then maybe this isn’t the scene for you, but I left with my ears ringing and a massive grin on my face. I will definitely be returning in March for the Drum and Bass awards!
