Behind the scenes at the Paris National Opera
Good theatre is all about great acting, fantastic scenery and (of course) fabulous outfits. Costume design is a fascinating craft which offers an entirely new interpretation on the world of fashion. In a featurette filmed at the Paris National Opera, we are treated to an inspiring insight into this skilled artform.
Christian Lacroix, the famous French fashion designer, has joined forces with Swarovski to design and produce costumes for a beautiful new ballet called La Source.
Over 2 million Swarovski crystals were used in 130 costumes for the ballet, called La Source. In this featurette, Christian Lacroix describes feeling like a child in a sweet shop working with so many crystals. Also interviewed is ‘l’etoile’ aka Prima Ballerina, the Director of Dance and the Head of Wardrobe, who describe how they worked with Lacroix and Swarovski to create ‘Beautiful chemistry’.
Subtitled in French, this is a perfect bite-sized video to help inject some culture into your day.
